First Fruits Giving
A significant portion of the operation of Good Shepherd Lutheran School depends on the time and talents that are generously shared by everyone close to the school. Volunteers are vital to the continued health and growth of this ministry. In the same way, a significant portion of the funding for this school comes from the first fruits giving of everyone involved in the greater mission of the school. First fruits giving is really a matter of where your heart is. Tithing is an aspect of this giving. In Malachi 3:10, God makes this promise to Israel and to us, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” Tithe is the biblical word for the first 10% of earnings or profit. An example of tithing for a family earning $25,000.00 per year is $2,500.00. This translates to about $48.00 in the church offering plate each week. All school families are encouraged to contribute to the general ministry of their respective congregation through their time, talents, and treasures, in proportion to the blessings that God has bestowed on them. Direct gifts to the ministry of Good Shepherd Lutheran School are also a good way to support Christian outreach in the mid-Missouri community. | | | | |
